Doug Hehner and his wife Jamie Otis Hehner are one of the rare Married At First Sight success stories. Doug was a 31-year-old software salesman when he joined the first season of Married At First Sight, which premiered in July 2014. He was paired with Jamie, a 27-year-old nurse. Doug and Jamie were married on March 23, 2014. Although the start of their relationship was understandably awkward, Doug and Jamie saw potential in their marriage and decided to stay together at the end of season 1.
Doug and Jamie are the only couple from the first season to remain married. They have subsequently appeared in several spin-offs. After their marriage, they appeared in Married At First Sight: The First Year. Doug and Jamie renewed their vows in 2015 during a televised ceremony in St. Thomas. In 2017, Doug and Jamie starred in Married At First Sight: Doug And Jamie Plus One, documenting their adjustment to parenthood.
Doug & Jamie Have A Family
Doug and Jamie are the parents of four children. Daughter Henley Grace was born in 2017, followed by son Hendrix Douglas in 2020. Doug and Jamie welcomed twins Hawkins Tyler and Huxley James in September 2024.
Doug and Jamie’s journey to becoming parents has not been easy. They have been open about their fertility struggles. In 2016, Doug and Jamie sadly lost their first son, Johnathan, during the second trimester, and they experienced several more losses in their quest to expand their family. Doug has an incredibly diverse work history. According to Doug’s LinkedIn, he most recently worked as a Business Development Manager from 2017 to 2020. Before that, he was an Account Executive for iCIMS and worked in sales for Nestle. Doug also has experience in athletics. He was a baseball coach from 2009 to 2013 and also worked as a lifeguard. Doug even dabbled in entertainment following his time on Married At First Sight, appearing in the 2020 movie Dear Christmas.
Doug’s LinkedIn lists his current occupation as a stay-at-home dad, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t keeping busy. He and Jamie use their fanbase to facilitate discussions about marriage and parenting. They host a podcast, Hot Marriage Cool Parents, where they share parenting advice and open up about their experiences. Doug and Jamie also have a YouTube channel, Hanging With The Hehners, which documents their parenting journey.
What Does The Future Hold For Doug & Jamie?
Now that Doug and Jamie have their hands full with four children, they have hinted that their family is complete. On September 6, 2024, just before the twins were born, Doug revealed Jamie’s maternity photoshoot was emotional “because it is most likely our last pregnancy.” After everything they’ve gone through to become parents, Doug and Jamie are thrilled to have a full house.
Doug and Jamie have been busy recently undergoing a renovation to their home. With their growing family and home nearing completion, they are now looking to the future. Jamie reflected on their ten years of marriage, writing, “For this next decade we are settling into our forever home & welcoming our sweet baby boys who we prayed over and over again for.” Despite the problems they have worked through in the past, their marriage appears to be stronger than ever.
