Welcome To Plathville: Did Moriah’s Ex Mathew Craven Hurt Her More Than Max Kallschmidt? (Which Breakup Was Worse? Compare The Facts Now & Decide)
Welcome to Plathville star Moriah Plath has a penchant for bad boys that isn’t so good for her, and she had painful breakups with Matthew Craven and Max Kallschmidt, but the first “cut” was the deepest. When Max broke Moriah’s heart, she wasn’t used to that kind of pain. She trusted Max (who didn’t seem like a bad boy) completely. He was so clean-cut, so seemingly devoted. Max was someone who was actually accepted by his parents. In the end, despite his wholesome image, he cheated on her, leaving her sad and hopeless. Then, she tried, as Yusef (Cat) sang:
to love again.
Moriah met Max in 2020, during Welcome To Plathville season 2. Moriah was wildly in love with her partner and planning a future with him. She believed that she was finding herself through the romance. The way that Moriah talked about Max made it clear that he was her dream man. By the series’ fifth season, they were planning to live together. It seemed like they might get married even though both were young. It was shocking when the cheating rumors about Max began to surface.
Moriah Probably Thought She’d Marry Max
Moriah’s heartbreak was a terrible thing to witness. Under that rock chick exterior, there is a heart. She was despondent and disbelieving. She cried onscreen, and there was nothing staged about it. Moriah was really feeling that pain. Because the first cut went so deep, it must have been hard for Moriah to try again. When she did, she chose badly.
With her new love interest, Matthew, there were more overt red flags. He was a flashier person – a musician who puts himself out there, chasing clout and money. He didn’t have that country boy vibe that Max had – not at all! Matthew likes to wear tank tops and colorful jackets. He wears a huge cross pendant that doesn’t really convey a sense of devoutness. It’s the look in his eyes – he’s clearly trouble. So, with this relationship, maybe Moriah knew what she was getting into.
Because Matthew’s player vibes are so obvious, I do feel like the first cut was the deepest – however, as is Moriah’s way, her split with Matthew also crushed her. Once again, she trusted fully, and that was a mistake. This is something she needs to work on – trust must be earned. It shouldn’t be given to anyone who doesn’t deserve it. While it’s sad that a romantic and faithful person like Moriah has to learn these tough lessons, they are necessary.
According to Kim Plath, Moriah’s kooky mother, Matthew hid the fact that he shared a child with another woman. That is a big secret to keep – it’s disturbing that people can lead double lives so easily, never really acknowledging the hurt that they are causing. The typical bad boy is comfortable with deception – in fact, he enjoys it.
Why lie all the time if it’s not fun? Some people lie just because they enjoy getting away with things. Some of the colder personality types are hard to understand, but they exist. It’s important to be aware that other people may not have the same emotional wholeness.
Perhaps he wanted to project the image of her dreams, rather than showing her just how much emotional baggage he carried. It’s more likely that he wanted to use her, and hid anything that might make it harder to get more famous through his romance with her. In retrospect, it seems clear that he was trying to coast on Moriah’s fame in order to boost his profile as a musician.
Yes, there are snakes in the grass. There are dangerous creatures out there who emerge from the shadows disguised as modern-day Romeos, but they are not what they seem. It takes time to get to know someone, and Moriah needs to get to know her love interests better before she gets romantic with them. She needs to vet them and assure herself that they aren’t dirtbags.
Also, she needs to avoid the obvious players, who basically advertise what they are through their images, social media profiles and shady red flags – if one looks carefully, they are always waving in the breeze. And one should look carefully.
Change is possible. To seek out the nice guy is the answer. The warm and decent man is the right choice. There is another way. If Moriah manages to change her type, she can be happy. Can the Welcome to Plathville star do it? Yes, she can. She’s worthy of a good man, and since she’s so sensitive, the bad ones are just poison for her. They damage her mental health, draining the beauty and good energy out of her heart and soul.
