Married At First Sight Season 18’s Emem Obot Shocking Engagement Proves She Was Never The Problem (Ikechi Ojoré Was A Terrible Husband)
Married At First Sight season 18 may have been varying in its degrees of success for the participants, but even though Emem Obot’s time on the show wasn’t a traditional success, her shocking engagement proves that she wasn’t the problem in her marriage to Ikechi Ojoré. Throughout Married At First Sight season 18, Emem and Ikechi’s marriage was one of the most difficult to watch unfold. While Emem was excited about the prospect of marrying Ikechi at the beginning of the season, seeing her continuing to put work into their relationship when he wasn’t interested was tough to see onscreen.
Emem and Ikechi’s difficult relationship unfolded in a way that Married At First Sight season 18’s cast wasn’t anticipating. As Emem continued to try and make sense of the man she’d been matched with, Ikechi clearly realized that he wasn’t going to be able to take control of Emem the way he wanted to. With such a sense of independence, Ikechi quickly made it clear he wasn’t romantically interested in Emem, but didn’t leave the relationship. Instead, every time Emem tried to make steps forward, Ikechi accused her of being overly aggressive. Eventually, their difficult marriage came to an end.

Emem & Ikechi’s MAFS Marriage Was Incredibly Difficult
Although Ikechi and Emem seemed like they would be a good match to the Married At First Sight experts, it was clear that the couple was going to experience issues early on. While their wedding seemed relatively run-of-the-mill, Emem and Ikechi found themselves facing issues fairly quickly. As Emem was an incredibly independent person prior to her relationship with Ikechi, seeing those traits in her was difficult for Ikechi.
While it wasn’t clear what Ikechi wasn’t liking about Emem, their personalities quickly bounced off of each other in a negative way. When Emem tried to push their relationship further and deepen their connection, Ikechi wasn’t interested. Rather than trying to talk to her about it, Ikechi threw accusations around about Emem’s behavior and eventually disappeared, ignoring her entirely. When the experts got involved, they gave their relationship one final try before calling it quits.

While Emem moved quickly, it was clear that she was happy with Brandon and excited to finally get what she’d expected from Married At First Sight, a happy, healthy relationship that was headed toward marriage.
