I’m positive there is a producer plant in Married at First Sight season 18 whose purpose is to stir the pot. A producer plant in reality TV is someone who production greenlit to be on the show despite them having red flags and a personality that could incite contentious situations. I’ve seen producer plants be used to heighten a season’s drama, and I think Married at First Sight season 18’s Michelle Tomblin is the producer plant.
MAFS season 18 has several episodes out, and Michelle has stood out as the most problematic cast member since her wedding day. Michelle married David Trimble, who was a stranger at the altar when they met. After hearing what each wanted out of their partner physically, I’m positive that is not where there issues have been laying. Michelle’s main concern was with David living in his parents’ basement, and it has been a point that has turned her off and made her sour towards her husband. Aside from that, Michelle has other red flags that make her a producer plant.
MAFS Season 18’s Casting Choices Have Been Poor
While I feel Lifetime’s Married at First Sight season 18 has cast Michelle as a producer plant, the majority of the cast have been suspect choices. Between David not being in a desirable place in his life for a partner, to Ikechi Ojoré’s apparent clout-chasing motivations, there is no shortage of questionable cast members. Thomas is a former cheater, Karla J has aspirations not to work and is obviously overly whimsical, and Madison is highly concerned with appearance.
However, what I feel sets Michelle apart as a producer plant over what is just a bad casting choice is her consistent determination to have a problem with David and the process. Season 18’s cast was labeled as “mature” by production in their initial introduction of the season to fans, but only a few of them are coming across that way. Michelle said she came on the show ready for love after having been single for six years, but I’m noticing she is proving to be nothing but a problem, and someone who could cast drama throughout the whole season.
Michelle Is On The Show To Stir The Pot
The red flags that Michelle is presenting is her unwillingness to accept anything short of what she had imagined in her partner. She is uncompromising and determined not to try and see things from David’s perspective. When David explains himself, Michelle doesn’t listen and only takes away the negative. I think Michelle believes she is a catch, and that her partner should fit into her ideals without compromise.
This to me, given the rigorous nature of the casting process to weed out close-minded participants like Michelle, signals that she is a producer plant meant to stir the pot.
