‘MAFS’ Star’s Daughter Hospitalized On Her Sixth Birthday

It has been a tough week for Married at First Sight stars Bobby and Danielle Dodd. Their daughter Olivia, who just turned six, was recently hospitalized after a concerning rash appeared on her face. Danielle has been keeping fans updated about Olivia’s condition on social media, explaining how the situation went from bad to worse and how Olivia is now on the road to recovery.
Olivia Dodd’s Concerning Rash
The trouble started when Danielle Dodd noticed a rash on Olivia’s face. Concerned, she took Olivia to the doctor, where the rash was initially diagnosed as scarlet fever, a bacterial infection that causes a red rash and sore throat. The doctor prescribed antibiotics, and Danielle hoped Olivia would feel better soon. However, the next day, Olivia’s condition worsened, and Danielle was advised to take her to the hospital.

At the hospital, the doctors quickly realized that Olivia didn’t have scarlet fever at all. Instead, she was diagnosed with Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (SSSS). A rare skin condition that causes the skin to peel and look burned or scalded. Danielle explained that Olivia’s younger brother had been dealing with impetigo, another bacterial infection, and had accidentally scratched Olivia on the face. This scratch allowed the bacteria to spread, worsening Olivia’s condition.
Danielle Dodd went on to explain that Olivia was already dealing with a strep infection, and when her brother’s impetigo rash came into contact with Olivia’s skin, it triggered the staph infection. “Her having strep and then getting the impetigo… just created a perfect storm,” Danielle shared. Olivia’s condition got worse, but thankfully, doctors immediately started treatment.
Danielle Made Olivia’s Hospital Birthday Special
Despite being seriously ill, Olivia remained in good spirits. Danielle mentioned that Olivia was much perkier than she had been before. Which gave her hope that things would improve soon. Unfortunately, Olivia had to spend her sixth birthday in the hospital, but Danielle did her best to make the day special. She decorated Olivia’s hospital room with colorful birthday streamers. Sharing in an Instagram post, “Not the best way to spend your birthday, but hopeful she gets to come home today.”

Luckily, Olivia received good news soon after. In a follow-up post, Danielle shared a photo of Olivia smiling in her pajamas, excitedly leaving the hospital. “Officially busting out,” Danielle wrote, expressing relief that her daughter would finally get to go home.
Although Olivia’s birthday wasn’t the celebration the family had hoped for, they are grateful that she is on the mend and looking forward to celebrating her recovery at home. How would you have comforted your daughter in this situation? Did Danielle and Bobby make Olivia’s birthday great given the circumstances?
