Married at First Sight fans are tiring of the series thanks to the experts. While the series format is to hook up people with a good chance to making it in marriage, things have failed horribly in recent seasons. While this makes for good television drama, many fans want to see more success stories on MAFS.
However, many fans feel that won’t happen as long as Dr. Pepper and Pastor Cal remain on the show. Here is why fans feel it is time for these two experts to leave the popular reality TV show.
Fans Feel Pastor Cal & Dr. Pepper Have Checked Out On MAFS
MAFS Season 18 was mostly a failure in every way other than increased drama. This was the second season in a row that the couples couldn’t make it work, and many fans are blaming the experts for failing the men and women trying to find love. Some fans feel the experts are not acting like experts, and others say they are checking out on the show completely.
When talking about Pastor Calvin “Cal” Roberson and Dr. Pepper Schwartz, one Reddit thread asked if they were tired of all the drama and people who don’t seem to care about staying together. The OP asked if Pastor Cal and Dr. Pepper were “probably so tired of dealing with so much drama and trying to help people who rarely listen to them anyways.”
That led to many people who feel it is time for both experts to leave the show:
- “How can an 80 year old relate to someone in their 20s and 30s enough to be able to match them for life. They need new blood.”
- “I feel like they are hardly helping the couples anyways. Is it their fault? Not sure? or if we are just not seeing everything being edited and included in the show.”
- “Let them REALLy regularly and actively counsel couples like they used to at the beginning of the show. Viewers want to see committed successful couples.”
Fans Feel MAFS Is Failing The Couples
Whether it is Pastor Cal and Dr. Pepper or the couples ignoring them, something isn’t working anymore on the reality TV show. Since Season 13, only one couple is still married to this day (Nicole Lilienthal and Christopher Thielk from Season 16).
However, the worse condemning number is that in Season 17, no one stayed together. Becca Haley and Austin Reed said yes but then changed their minds the next day. Chloe Brown said yes, but Michael Siakallis said no. In Season 18, Camille Parsons and Thomas McDonald said yes, and the other four couples all said no.
MAFS has no happy endings anymore (although fans hope Camille and Thomas can make it work). Most fans think the experts are not working hard enough to give “good” advice on how to make things work but are instead giving generic advice that leads to breakups.
