MAFS Season 17 Premieres Tonight

Married at First Sight fans have been counting down the days to the Season 17 premiere. And now, it’s finally here!

This season, the couples are heading to Denver, Colorado. As usual, the show follows five couples who meet for the very first time at the altar. They get married, head on a honeymoon, and then move in together. After eight weeks together, they have a huge decision to make. They can stay together or get a divorce. Along the way, the couples are mentored by Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec.

While this season of MAFS is similar to seasons past, there is a huge twist this time around.

Season 17 Makes History With First Runaway Bride

Ahead of the premiere, Entertainment Tonight revealed a few details in an exclusive preview. This season is sure to be especially interesting as it makes history with the first-ever MAFS runaway bride. According to Lifetime’s press release, “This season, for the first time ever, a groom is left alone at the altar.” In all 16 seasons so far, this has never happened, so it comes as a huge surprise.

One of the men on MAFS Season 17 is Michael, who goes by Mikey. Mikey’s bride has not yet been named, and it’s for a good reason. It turns out that she’s the show’s first runaway bride, leaving Mikey at the altar.

Upon seeing his future bride walk down the aisle, Mikey says, “I see her, she’s extremely beautiful.” After she joins him at the altar, he introduces himself. In response, she says, “I don’t think I can do this.”

The mysterious MAFS star ditches Mikey at the altar, leaving his family in disbelief. Mikey is clearly heartbroken. He admits to the cameras that it “hurt” to be left at the altar like this.

The preview doesn’t reveal what happens next with Mikey. But this is sure to be an interesting storyline and dramatically shakes things up from seasons past.

So, does it surprise you that after 17 seasons there will finally be a runaway bride? Are you eager to see what happens? Sound off in the comments section below, and come back to TV Shows Ace for more news about the new season.
