Michael Shiakallis Is The Real Villain Of Married At First Sight Season 17
Married At First Sight’s Micheal Shiakallis is ending the season as the villain despite his strong star after his recent choice during decision day. Micheal made his Married At First Sight as one of the contestants searching for love and seeking to get married on the show. However, he soon made unwanted MAF history when he became the first-ever contestant to be ditched at the altar by a potential bride. However, Micheal, determined to give love another shot on the show, was matched with a new bride, Chloe Brown, by the producers.
Despite exchanging their vows and going on honeymoon later than their Married At Sight season 17 peers, Michael and Chloe appeared to be the strongest couple on the show, staying married longer than other married couples. Micheal and Chloe instantly connected when they met and had minimal disagreements, leading to decision day. Chloe had looked like the party to say no due to her skepticism about their future together. However, when Chloe said yes, it looked like the stars had aligned for the two until Michael’s shocking decision to opt for a divorce turned the event sour.
Micheal Presented Himself As Emotionally Intelligent
During Micheal and Chloe’s first days together, he presented himself as a highly emotional individual, assuring Chloe that she wasn’t marrying a broken man still hung up on being left at the altar. For most of their relationship, Micheal rarely doubted what the future held for him and Chloe and how successful they’d been at building something between them. Micheal’s decision not to inform his mother about the state of his relationship with Chloe was undoubtedly a red flag. Still, his explanation that she initially didn’t want him participating in the show seemed like a good excuse.
However, in hindsight, hiding the relationship was a strong sign of impending doom for the couple because of how obvious Micheal felt about pleasing his mother. At certain times, Chloe admitted to being emotionally overwhelmed and even wanted the couple to evaluate how fast their relationship was moving. But Micheal’s false sense of confidence made it impossible for him to work on the couple’s differences during their time together. Micheal presented himself to Chloe as an emotionally mature man who knew what he wanted, but as decision day drew closer, it became clear it was just a facade.
Micheal Couldn’t Be Honest With Chloe
For the most part of their relationship, Micheal and Chloe never had many hiccups in how they connected. However, the few times the pair had differences in opinions or wanted a break to evaluate their relationship, Chloe was the party making these demands. At one point, it looked like she was purposely scaring Micheal away and didn’t want to be with him. However, Chloe was only honest about her feelings for Micheal and their relationship, and she was open about sharing them with Micheal.
However, unlike Chloe, who voiced her feelings when she was unsure about their future together, Micheal kept his feelings to himself for the most part. Micheal and Chloe’s disagreement while searching for an apartment together was the only period Micheal admitted to being drained; however, his words came a little too late. Chloe had long spoken about how marriage and moving in together was a big step, which Michael often brushed off. However, his sudden change of heart when their plans were becoming a reality showed Michael had not been honest but had only been putting up a brave front.
Michael Wasted Chloe’s Time
By the time Chloe and Micheal celebrated their one-month wedding anniversary, it had become clear that Chloe knew and understood what was at stake more than Micheal did. For two perfect strangers to move in together and start planning a life together, Chloe confessed she felt terrified and even admitted she wasn’t sure if she could go through with the marriage. Chloe had been single for a long time and wanted to make sure she was making the right choices in her dealings with Micheal. However, despite Chloe’s uncertainty, she surprisingly said yes on decision day.
Chloe had long recognized their relationship as a sinking ship; however, Micheal kept her on longer than necessary.
However, much to Chloe’s disappointment, Micheal surprisingly said no. Micheal joined Married At First Sight season 17, declaring that he wanted to be one of the success stories in the show. During different stages of their marriage, Micheal never faltered in speaking of his desire to remain married, giving Chloe assurance that he was for real. However, on “D’Day,” Chloe’s fears are actualized when Micheal decides not to proceed with the relationship. Chloe had long recognized their relationship as a sinking ship; however, Micheal kept her on longer than necessary.
Micheal Wasn’t Ready For Marriage
When Micheal’s runaway bride left him at the altar, it looked like he would never get the chance to achieve his dream of getting married on the show. Still, when Micheal met Chloe, he said all the right things and made all the right moves. However, on decision day, despite hearing Chloe’s decision to remain married, Micheal divorced Chloe. According to Micheal, although he cared for Chloe, he hadn’t reached a point where he could make a genuine commitment to her that warranted a marriage. Micheal’s decision was shocking and unpopular within the Married At First Sight fanbase.
The question on many viewers’ minds was why Micheal would let Chloe, who accepted him for who he is, (via Monsters and Critics). However, while Micheal was generally positive about his relationship with Chloe, he had never been ready for marriage. Besides refusing to tell his mother about Chloe, even as decision day drew near, Micheal’s reluctance to find a house to accommodate them before the big day was a major indication of his intentions. Like most Married At First Sight season 17 contestants, Micheal wasn’t determined to get married; his mirage only took longer to fall.
