I’ve Changed My Mind, Ikechi Ojoré Is The Worst Married At First Sight Season 18 Husband (He’s Trying To Ruin Emem Omot’s Reputation)
Married At First Sight season 18’s Ikechi Ojoré has been difficult to watch throughout the season, but I’ve changed my mind and believe he’s the worst husband on the series this season because of the way he’s treated Emem Obot. Throughout Married At First Sight season 18, viewers have gotten the chance to know more about Emem and Ikechi, forming their own opinions about the couple as they’ve moved through the experiment. Though there have been some other difficult cast members introduced throughout the season, Ikechi has been the most difficult to understand as he’s moved through the show’s timeline.
While the drama of the series has been primarily focused on David Trimble and Michelle Tomblin’s difficult relationship, Ikechi has been one of the more domineering and difficult parts of the season. As a multi-season applicant, Ikechi has been trying to get on Married At First Sight for years, and now that he’s finally on the series, I’m afraid he’s an even bigger disappointment than expected. Ikechi’s inability to take accountability has been tough to watch, and that coupled with his treatment of Emem has made him a far worse Married At First Sight husband than David in my books.
Ikechi Has An Attitude With His Wife Emem
Although Ikechi and Emem’s marriage seemed like it was going to work well on paper, their common ground and mutual interests weren’t enough to bring the couple together after their wedding ceremony. While many believed Ikechi would enjoy Emem’s drive and independence, it quickly became clear that he wasn’t interested in a spouse who had a mind of their own. Ikechi’s controlling nature and overall red flags have become impossible to ignore as the season has continued on, but the issues he has with Emem are often more front-facing than his failings as a spouse. Ikechi’s difficult behavior is impossible.
Throughout Married At First Sight season 18, Ikechi has been speaking about his issues with Emem often, even though he’s not necessarily bringing them to his MAFS wife. Instead, Ikechi is bringing his grievances to the experts and making Emem sound far more difficult than she is. Ikechi’s attitude with Emem is the subject of a lot of discussion amongst MAFS fans, especially because he’s been particularly rough with the way he speaks to and about her. Ikechi is often either clipped or short with Emem, making her feel small, or dismissive with the way he speaks, undermining Emem’s independence.
Ikechi Called Emem Aggressive
Although Ikechi’s had an attitude with Emem in some moments and chosen to keep his thoughts on her to himself in others, he’s been outward about the issues he has with her when he’s asked. Though Ikechi is surely understanding of the stereotypes that people of color find themselves pigeonholed into both on reality TV and in their daily lives, he’s been open about his feelings, sharing Emem is aggressive with him in moments. Making Emem seem like she’s aggressive, often in a sᴇxᴜᴀʟ sense or otherwise, has proven to me that Ikechi is simply looking for clout on MAFS.
While Emem has been doing what she can to progress their marriage without much work from Ikechi, his behavior has been a major deterrent to their relationship. After calling Emem sᴇxᴜᴀʟʟʏ aggressive to the MAFS experts twice, it became clear that Ikechi was saying whatever he felt like and then walking it back, bringing some drama into their relationship and then casting it away. Ikechi’s ploy to make Emem look like the problem in their relationship backfired when it became clear that she was respecting his boundaries, but trying to move forward in a relationship with her difficult MAFS husband.
Ikechi Isn’t Into His Relationship At All
After spending the season trying to see if he and Emem were a decent fit, it’s clear that Ikechi isn’t happy with his Married At First Sight match. My issues with Ikechi come from a few different places, and while I can respect the fact that he doesn’t feel the type of connection he wants to with Emem, I think he’s gone about their relationship the wrong way for someone who clearly doesn’t want to be with his match in the long run. His difficulties with Emem aren’t necessarily inaccurate, but Ikechi’s behavior has been difficult to defend.
