Married At First Sight Season 18: Ikechi Ojore Should Have Never Been Cast (His Accusatory Behavior Towards Emem Obot Is Very Telling)

Married at First Sight season 18 cast member Ikechi Ojoré was a very poor casting choice, as his problematic behavior towards his wife, Emem Obot, has been very telling. The Married at First Sight season 18 couples just celebrated their one-month anniversaries, and only one couple, Camille Parsons and Thomas, seem to be on a good path to Decision Day. They are the only couple to have consummated their marriage thus far as well. Ikechi and Emem seemed like they were compatible and building with one another at first, but they have quickly become the most turbulent couple.

Before Ikechi and Emem held that title, Michelle Tomblin and David Trimble were the couple with the most issues, but they have demonstrated resolve to stick with the process and find the good in each other. The same can’t be said for Ikechi and Emem, and it is Ikechi who is the negative driver in the situation. Ikechi was a wholly wrong choice for the show, and he’s presented some glaring red flags that were missed by producers and the panel of three experts who selected him for Emem.

Ikechi Is A Clout Chaser

The first red flag that became apparent with Ikechi was the fact that he had applied to be on Married at First Sight before. He applied in his native Houston, Texas, when they were casting for MAFS season 10. He moved to Chicago for work, and took the opportunity to apply again, but there were likely other motivations for the second attempt. Ikechi is an author and a musician, and has come off like he’s on the show for clout and exposure.

Ikechi Is Manipulative

Ikechi has said a lot of offensive things to Emem, and Emem deduced why she thought he was acting out. Ikechi called Emem “aggressive” on multiple occasions, and also claimed that she made unwanted sᴇxᴜᴀʟ advances towards her. Moreover, on their one-month anniversary, after Emem read their vows aloud, Ikechi called Emem an “a*****e.”

During the one-month anniversary group dinner with the other couples, Emem called Ikechi out for being a “liar” and a “clown,” and made a point about his intentions coming into the marriage.

“I think he was hoping he had someone who was less educated who he could pull the wool over. So he said, ‘I’m gonna tear her down in any way possible.'”

Ikechi seems to want to manipulate the Married at First Sight experience, at the expense of his marriage and reputation. The MAFS experts missed recognizing Ikechi’s blatant attitude and capacity for manipulation and being self-serving. Ikechi believes he is woke and is trying to turn the tables on Emem by painting her negatively when he is the actual problem. He is trying to get the heat off his own bad behavior by projecting wrong labels on Emem to discredit her.

Ikechi Has Slandered Emem

Aside from the false narrrative Lifetime‘s Ikechi has relentlessly pushed about Emem being aggressive, he has slandered her in other ways. Ikechi showed up late to the group dinner and appeared only to be there to insult Emem. When Emem returned to the table after gathering herself, Ikechi walked off and spoke with a producer.

“”The moment I said I don’t want to have sᴇx with you, everything changed. Like she shut down. I don’t know her enough to say hey lets have sᴇx. From day one she been jumping on me. “

Ikechi has been tirelessly throwing shade at Emem, when she has only been working to understand him.

His accusatory behavior is not a good look, and only serves a purpose for him to make viewers and his fellow cast members dislike him.

It seems like Ikechi never wanted to be a compromising or understanding party in his marriage, which makes him the worst casting choice.

How Did Ikechi Slip Through Casting?

Ikechi clearly fooled the experts. Having applied for the show before did him a favor, though, as he presented himself as a man who desperately wanted marriage, which tugged on the experts’ heart strings. Had the experts looked into Ikechi’s relationship history, they would have noticed that he has been flighty and unstable. Since breaking up with his fiancé in his twenties, the 41-year-old had never kept a relationship past eight months, which is problematic. In any case, the Married at First Sight experts likely feel foolish for making the wrong call about Ikechi.
