Jose San Miguel Jr. and Rachel Gordillo had many highs and lows on Married At First Sight season 13, and it’s time for an update on Jose. Jose got a lousy reputation for having what appeared to be certain anger issues. He couldn’t get over his jealousy, which meant that all of his conflicts with Rachel escalated very quickly. While Rachel came in with patience and a willingness to learn, she wasn’t prepared for how Jose would act. The couple had chemistry at the altar and shared a sweet kiss, but they didn’t end up having an easy road.
Jose, dubbed “Mr. Perfectionist,” said that he holds himself to a high standard and expects the same from his spouse. He didn’t see any negatives early on with his classy, smart, and beautiful wife, but when Rachel’s mom warned of her messy habits, fear crept into Jose’s eyes. Early on, Rachel worried things were too good to be true. She may have been right, as fans saw Rachel and Jose’s red flags all over the place.
Are Jose & Rachel Still Together?
The tensions between Lifetime‘s Rachel and Jose reached new heights when he locked her out of the house. His actions were sparked by Rachel accidentally calling him by her ex’s name. Things got worse when she ended up spending the night at her ex’s house when no one else answered her calls.
Despite their pitfalls and ugly fight, Jose and Rachel said yes to each come decision day on Married At First Sight. In a cast photo from after filming, Rachel was still wearing her ring. However, she’s had also posed far away from Jose in certain shots. After promoting MAFS season 13 on social media, Jose primarily posted outings with his friends. From baseball games to drinking and ski trips, Jose was living to the fullest. Overall, though, there have been many signs that Rachel and Jose wouldn’t last.
Jose and Rachel only stayed together a few weeks after decision day before breaking up. However, they reconciled before the reunion was filming. Ultimately, Jose and Rachel decided to go their separate ways. In a joint statement they did with People, the pair detailed the news of their split.
“After much thought, we have decided that we are better off going our separate ways.” Further stating, “It’s a decision we do not make lightly, but after some back and fourth and trying to make this marriage work we know this decision best serves our future.”
Their split came after only eight months of marriage in December 2021. Currently, they don’t follow each other on Instagram, signifying that there is bad blood between the former spouses.
Jose Has Been Busy Professionally Since Rachel Split
Jose has also been busy working as a NASA Mission Flight Specialist. He posted a video of his time at the NASA Space program to the tune of Travis Scott’s “goosebumps.”
Jose wrote,” I’m incredibly grateful for opportunities in working for NASA & The Space Program. As space exploration and the realization of reaching new heights becomes more and more common, the sky is no longer the limit but the first phase in reaching new boundaries.”
Jose always knew how to hustle. As a result, he is definitely married to his work and dedicates a lot of time to his savings strategy in life.
In 2023, Jose revealed that he had been selected to go on a mission to space.
Jose also has other business endeavors that are making him successful. In December 2023, Jose bought his fourth property and touted his long term investment strategy. When takes a break from being business-minded, Jose likes to go on beach vacations, play golf, and spend time with his family. He is also a big Houston Astros fan, and often attends games. As for his love life, Jose has not showcased any special ladies on his Instagram page, so, judging by that, he is still single.
Married at First Sight might not have paved the way for a successful marriage between Jose and Rachel. Regardless of that, Jose seems to be pushing his life forward with enthusiasm and determination to follow his dreams. On her end, Rachel is still single as well, but it’s obvious the pair learned a lot from their time on the show.
