Ikechi Has The Worst Attitude On Married At First Sight Season 18 (His Relationship With Emem Is Bound To Fail)
Ikechi Ojore from Married At First Sight season 18 is one of the worst cast members due to his attitude towards his partner Emem Obot; will their relationship fall apart before Decision Day? When the two met at the altar, it wasn’t love at first sight compared to other cast members like Juan Franco and Karla Juarez. It was shocking that they didn’t seem to have chemistry, considering Ikechi was looking for a black woman.
Despite a lack of attraction at the beginning, things changed during the honeymoon when they both tried to get to know each other. In Nigerian culture, his name means strength, whereas Emem’s represents peace. So, Ikechi joked that their names signified a great foundation for their marriage. Unfortunately, their relationship stalled after returning to Chicago, and more of Ikechi’s red flags became visible. However, one of the problems Ikechi has had throughout the show is his attitude, which, over time, has become unbearable to see.
Ikechi Has An Attitude Problem
After returning to Chicago, Emem tried to take the relationship to the next level, but Ikechi has been pushing her away. It was so sad to see Emem’s disappointment over the rejection. After refusing her advances, she noted he was looking for a more demure southern woman, adding that Emem was “aggressive.” Ikechi’s standoffish attitude was obvious, resulting in a sit down with one of the Married at First Sight season 18 experts, Dr Pia Holec. Emem expressed her lack of knowledge of why Ikechi was behaving this way (via mafslifetime).
“I’m not sure what I am dealing with now. I’m not sure what’s going on.”
Ikechi looked upset when he showed up to talk with his wife and Dr. Pia. One glaring red flag was how much space he left between himself and his wife after sitting down. Ikechi reacted angrily when Dr. Pia pointed to where he should have sat, prompting her to ask why he had an attitude.
“I don’t have an attidtude. I’m just tired.”
At the same time, the MAFS participant expressed a lack of support in his marriage, adding that he needed to be fixed. Dr. Pia told him passive-aggressive comments wouldn’t help. It was shocking to watch since there was no way a black man who was looking for a black woman to marry didn’t know how triggering calling Emem aggressive would be. Therefore, he purposefully said that to hurt her and used it to justify why their marriage failed; however, he was the aggressive one.
Ikechi Feels Emasculated By Emem
There have been different instances on MAFS where Ikechi has been combative for no specific reason. Perhaps he feels emasculated being with a woman who is more successful than he is. Emem is a nurse practitioner. She also runs a successful healthcare business that she started after tragically losing her dad.
Ikechi is a college counselor and a published author. That, paired with the fact that the MAFS star could have joined the show for fame, makes it difficult for him to go through the marriage process without getting agitated. Therefore, he seems to have been fault-finding Emem and saying mean and hurtful things, hoping she would get triggered and react similarly, making him less of a bad guy.
Ikechi Hardly Communicates His Feelings
Ikechi doesn’t have a proper way of communicating and, in most cases, has been defensive when faced with tough situations. In the recent episode, there was a candid conversation between Emem and her friends Tiffany and Krissy. Krissy revealed that at one point, she asked Ikechi if he would be willing to compromise.
Instead of engaging her, Ikechi became argumentative. Since he also got defensive with Dr. Pia’s shows, this Married At First Sight star should work on himself to form a meaningful connection with Emem. He should start acknowledging that he is the problem and work toward self-improvement.
