Married At First Sight Season 18 Producers Slammed For Alleged Interference After Revealing David Trimble’s Disastrous Living Conditions
Married At First Sight season 18 viewers have struggled to watch Michelle Tomblin go in on David Trimble, but after David’s disastrous apartment tour, it’s clear there could’ve been some production interference when the pair were set up. While Married At First Sight season 18 is still only in its opening episodes, there’s one couple who’s been getting a huge amount of attention for their poor connection. David, who revealed he still lives with his parents during the matchmaking special, and Michelle, who has struggled heartily with that information, haven’t been doing well throughout the season so far.
In the most recent episode of Married At First Sight season 18, the couples saw each other’s homes and got the chance to make their own judgments about their new spouse’s living spaces. While David had been clear he still lived with his parents, Michelle wasn’t ready for the disastrous living space she saw. Unkept and unclean, David’s apartment was the stuff of her nightmares. Reddit user u/enigmaenergy23 explained they were speechless, while others chimed in with allegations of production interference. “Production can be really manipulative…it’s possible they tried to push her into a certain direction,” u/Global-Course7664 explained.
Another user, u/Comprehensive_Ad4839, shared more succinctly that they felt, “the producers screwed Michelle…she was clearly not about the living at home thing.” The user went on to explain that when the experts asked again in a different way, Michelle was made to look bad if she didn’t agree so they could justify setting her up with someone who was in a situation like David. The lack of care from the Married At First Sight experts surrounding what Michelle was okay with and what she wasn’t interested in is somewhat astounding, especially knowing they pride themselves on making careful matches.
While David and Michelle could’ve been matched up organically, it’s been clear that Michelle wasn’t interested in the way David was living from the beginning of her appearances on the show. When producers showed Michelle explaining she was uninterested in marrying someone who wasn’t independent and then tried to reframe the question, Michelle was put into a corner where she had to answer affirmatively. The interference of the producers, who were trying to have the experts push David as a viable option, was blatant and uncalled for. The couple’s MAFS experience has been under duress since the start.
Our Take On Married At First Season 18’s Possible Producer Interference
Although it’s possible the Married At First Sight experts simply made an error in their assessment of Michelle and David as a couple, it feels like the pair were set up to be off-balance enough to create drama. The MAFS producers who work with the experts to make matches may have been pushing the pair together, which could make things more difficult for David and Michelle’s relationship. Despite knowing that Michelle wouldn’t be interested in the way David lived his life, the Married At First Sight producers pushed for the couple to be matched so they could capture the drama.
