Married At First Sight season 18 viewers have struggled to watch Michelle Tomblin go in on David Trimble, but after David’s disastrous apartment tour, it’s clear there could’ve been some production interference when the pair were set up. David, who revealed he still lives with his parents during the matchmaking special, and Michelle, who has struggled heartily with that information, haven’t been doing well throughout the season so far.

While David had been clear he still lived with his parents, Michelle wasn’t ready for the disastrous living space she saw. Unkept and unclean, David’s apartment was the stuff of her nightmares. The lack of care from the Married At First Sight experts surrounding what Michelle was okay with and what she wasn’t interested in is somewhat astounding, especially knowing they pride themselves on making careful matches.
While David and Michelle could’ve been matched up organically, it’s been clear that Michelle wasn’t interested in the way David was living from the beginning of her appearances on the show. When producers showed Michelle explaining she was uninterested in marrying someone who wasn’t independent and then tried to reframe the question, Michelle was put into a corner where she had to answer affirmatively.
