Ben Rathbun’s Legal Nightmare: Aʀʀᴇsᴛᴇᴅ Again for Unpaid Child Support and Embezzlement

Ben Rathbun and Mahogany Roca’s relationship on Before the 90 Days Season 5 was filled with drama and skepticism. Fans have always thought Ben was a creep due to the significant age gap between him and Mahogany, his drinking problem, and multiple DUI ᴀʀʀᴇsᴛs. This week, he was Aʀʀᴇsᴛᴇᴅ again for another reason, adding to the perception that his life is a mess.

Ben, 52 years old from Michigan, and Mahogany, a 22-year-old from Peru, met online and quickly developed a connection despite their 30-year age gap. Their relationship faced numerous challenges, including Mahogany’s initial reluctance to meet Ben in person and her heavily filtered photos that led many to believe she was catfishing him.

When Ben finally traveled to Peru, their first meeting was awkward, and Mahogany’s parents revealed that she had lied about her age. Despite these hurdles, the couple managed to work through their differences and got engaged in August 2022. In 2024, Ben and Mahogany’s relationship took another significant step as they tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Peru.

However, their marriage has not been without its struggles. Ben admitted that adjusting to married life has been challenging, especially financially. He revealed that he had gone about six months without a stable job, and bills were piling up. Despite these difficulties, the couple remained committed to each other and planned to have a big religious wedding in the future.

Recently, Ben Rathbun made headlines for a different reason. According to blogger Shabui, Ben was Aʀʀᴇsᴛᴇᴅ for failing to pay child support just months after marrying Mahogany. Ben, a divorced father of four, was taken into custody in Mom County, Michigan, and is currently being held at the Oakland County Jail.

Ben’s ᴀʀʀᴇsᴛ was not solely due to unpaid child support. The father of four was also arraigned in Michigan on a felony embezzlement charge involving $1,000 to $20,000 taken from a nonprofit or charitable organization. Although the offense dates back to 2018, Ben managed to evade justice by hiding out in Peru with Mahogany.

Upon his recent return to the United States, he was ᴀʀʀᴇsᴛed in Washington, D.C., after his passport was flagged. He was then extradited back to Michigan, explaining the six-year delay in facing these charges. This situation has landed Ben in even more legal trouble than his previous unpaid child support issues.
