I’m Worried Married At First Sight Season 18 Is Looking For Couples To Fail (Are The Experts To Blame?)
Married At First Sight season 18 has gotten off to an interesting start, but to me, it looks like the show is purposely matching up unbalanced couples so they’ll have drama and ultimately fail. Married At First Sight season 18 has been sharing the stories of five brand-new couples who were matched by the experts, and though they’re just starting their journey, things have been rocky as the season has gotten started. With the experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec, and Pastor Cal Roberson, hopeful that they’ll make some great matches, many have been let down by the season.
Though there have only been a few episodes of Married At First Sight season 18 thus far, the weddings and the moments after have shown the true colors of several cast members. The MAFS season 18 cast has been known since well before the beginning of the season, which has led to some major speculation throughout the Married At First Sight community about what to expect. While some were convinced early on that all of the couples were doomed, I’m a little more optimistic, though I do think there will be quite a few breakups throughout the journey of MAFS.
Although I’m open for things to change and hoping to be wrong in some ways, I’m concerned that there will only be one marriage that makes it out of Married At First Sight season 18 intact because of the way the couples have been matched up. Despite knowing that some of the couples would struggle with one another’s lifestyles, the experts matched people up who were immediately hostile to each other and didn’t seem to be open to changing their interpretation. In light of some difficulties, MAFS season 18 could’ve cast singles looking for their relationships to fail for drama.
MAFS Season 18’s Couples Are Off To A Rocky Start
Although Married At First Sight season 18 is just beginning, things have been rocky for several of the couples this season thus far. While some couples are starting off strong, like Thomas and Camille who seem interested in genuinely getting to know one another, others haven’t had the best luck with their marriages thus far. There are a few couples who seem to be in the middle, like Karla and Juan, where it’s not clear if they’re genuinely interested or simply open to the experience, but the issues with other couples have caused the middling couples to be outshined quickly.
David and Michelle seemed like they would be a great match on paper, but their wedding seemed to be a disaster of epic proportions once Michelle found out her MAFS groom was still living with his parents. While David has yet to explain his reasoning for his choice to live with family to his MAFS wife, she has yet to ask about it in more detail, instead simply railing against him for the behavior. While David and Michelle have been struggling, viewers are already feeling off about both Madison and Ikechi’s behavior in their marriages to Allen and Emem, respectively.
Viewers Are Hopeful, But Not Optimistic About MAFS Season 18
Although there have already been some rough starts to the Married At First Sight relationships, many are hopeful that the season won’t be a total flop. Despite knowing that there’s some major drama coming to the couples as they move through the experience, many are wondering who will be able to make things work after the cheating scandal that’s set to plague MAFS season 18. While there will likely be some MAFS couple casualties because of the scandal, there could be success in other couples this season. MAFS viewers, including myself, feel cautious about having optimism about the show’s success.
Several Of MAFS Season 18’s Matches Seem Doomed To Fail
Although some couples seem like they could be successful with Married At First Sight season 18’s cast, it’s impossible to know who will be part of the cheating scandal after so little of the season has aired. Even so, several of the early reads on the Married At First Sight season 18 matches have made it seem like they’re doomed to fail. This may not be the fault of the participants but instead could be an issue that comes from the casting of the series. Married At First Sight casting could be looking for participants who are doomed to fail.
I’m Worried MAFS Is Creating Poor Matches For Drama
Although Married At First Sight season 18 has only shown some of the journey thus far, it seems possible that the show is hoping for drama over connection. While we all love reality TV drama, the fact that the series looks to bring couples together for the long term and seems to have a very difficult time pairing people up into matches that succeed. I’m worried that Married At First Sight, rather than prioritizing successful couples, is simply creating poor matches for the sake of drama. While drama is exciting, seeing happy couples grow together would be a welcome change.
