Veah from Florida swiped right on Sunny from Durham a year before filming the show. Veah and Sunny both bonded over their shared pasts of being separated from their parents while growing up. Sunny wanted to propose to Veah when she came to South Africa, but Sunny didn’t know Veah had brought along her ex-boyfriend Rory. Veah wrote that it was hard for Sunny to make money “in a country like that.” According to her, Sunny’s only source of income was “trading.” Sunny supposedly doesn’t get paid by his father at the shop.

However, he was not making an income there. Sunny got paid free things from the shop itself, such as shampoo and soap or whatever they had that he could take. It seems Sunny’s father never gave him any money in exchange for his work.
It appears Veah had been funding Sunny’s lifestyle in Durban. Sunny took Veah to live in some great hotels during her trips, and it must have been the money he used.
